A little background on how it all began.

MBA from UC San Diego

Our founder discovered her love of accounting while completing her MBA program at the Rady School of Management. The first semester included a basic accounting class and Sarah was hooked. She decided to add on the CPA course work to her graduate program and took an internship with a local accounting group.

Corporate Foundation

After completing her master’s degree, Sarah worked as a corporate accountant in both the financial services industry and K-12 education and has a unique take on finance, combining both an entrepreneurial spirit with classical training.

Small Business Champion

Sarah moved back to Arroyo Grande in 2017 and took the opportunity to strike out on her own founding Brave Accounting. She quickly discovered the joy of helping small businesses in the area find financial success.

Tax Expansion

Tax preparation services seemed like a natural add on to the firm’s service offerings and in 2025, Brave Accounting merged with Ekmanian Tax & Accounting. Ekmanian brings deep tax expertise and the same commitment to client satisfaction.
